Song 1:
Landry: Well, good day, my friends! I'm glad you're here. There's much to hear and see;
What a show we have today, presented operatically.
Many things that would be spoken in a play will now be sung;
This is perfect entertainment for the old and the young.
But wait...there's more, ah...you will be impressed, as you meet each guest.
Each person is very different; and yet their message is the same.
Character is just as important as your name.
There's a very funny mother who believes in laughter first.
You must have a sense of humor so your temper doesn't burst.
Next we'll meet a grade school teacher who says discipline is best.
Teach your birdies good behavior well before they leave the nest.
But wait...there's more, ah...finally you will meet one who is so sweet.
Each person will be remembered for all the kindness they display.
What a show we have for all of you today. |

Song 2:
S: I am a mother and a wife; my children are my joy, my life, my joy, my life.
We love to laugh and play a lot the childhood games that I was taught. I've got a lot!
L: Well now, that's very nice.
C: Now, don't forget to thank her for the story that she told.
L: Yes, thank you, Mrs. Kidder, you've a humorous household.
D: My family...is very small...we're only four...but four in all.
L: Your family...is very small...you're only four...but four in all.
D/L: Two kids, a husband and a wife; we (they) live a strict and simple life.
Two kids, a man and a wife.
L: (spoken during interlude) Well, THANK YOU. It sounds like everything is
under control. (to Chava) And you...
C: Our house is full of family, and we're as happy as can be.
Polite and kind, we treat each other courteously so we can live harmoniously.
L: How nice. That's sweet.
C: Pardon me; there is more... with twelve of us, we must take care
And all must learn to share.
L: Twelve people under one roof? I think I'd pull out my hair!
S: That's quite a crew.
L: Now all of you...
D: It must be hard.
L: Just read the card.
S: For goodness sake!
L: Time for a break.
D: ...Something to see...
L: And one, two, three.
All: We will return, don't go away.
We'll be right back, won't you stay?
Stay tuned, we've lots more to say. |

Song 3:
All: Ladies and gentlemen, glad you're with us. Landry Lakota's the star of the show.
If you just joined us, the theme today; "How children can make their character
grow."
How you relate to others can help you make deeper friendships, those that will last.
Being a model of good behavior is your responsibility,
Keeping a positive attitude all of the time.
Now Chava Hart will start. (Landry faces upstage, audience applauds)
You're on!
C: Oh thank you, thank you, everyone! Ev'ry feeling, expression... should be really
affirming and not provoke, insult, offend...
L: (spoken) That's very nice; anything else? Positive thoughts, words, speech and
actions...
L: And, as you said before, always be thankful.
C: One way to share a friendly word: say something nice to those you greet.
All: Say something that's encouraging, hoping the best for all you meet.
DIALOGUE:
L: What are some positive words we can say to each other?
S: Good luck on your soccer game (or basketball or baseball).
D: Don't worry; you'll do better next time.
C: Mom, this broccoli is delicious! (all pause and look at Chava)
L: You won't hear that at my house.
S: Hey, I like your new shoes.
D: Have fun on your field trip.
C: Mrs. (teacher's name), thanks for giving us all this homework; I learned so much.
(all pause and look at Chava)
L: You've GOT to be kidding.
S: That's a little too positive for me.
D: You got that right.
L: Desi, you wanted to emphasize another aspect of good character. Tell us about it.
SUNG:
D: People with good character can always be relied upon. That's called responsibility.
All: That's responsibility.
D: Making a concerted effort to complete the work at hand requires dependability.
All: That's dependability.
D: Staying 'til your work is done doesn't sound like lots of fun.
Perseverance means that you stay until the job is through.
Take the lead, you'll succeed. Others will think well of you.
Take the lead, you'll succeed in everything you do.
S: You take the lead.
C: You will succeed
All: And others will think well of you.
S: You take the lead.
C: You will succeed
All: And others will think well of you for all you do, think well of you.
L: (spoken) Sasha, tell us what good character means to you...(looks at Chava) please!
S: Building good relationships is not as easy as it seems.
It's something that takes work and care.
All: Something that takes work and care.
S: Honesty is all important as you make new friends, you see...
Cooperate and try to share.
All: Dare to share and always care.
S: Always try to tell the truth: that is what I tell the youth.
It seems like an uphill climb. Building friendships take some time.
Friendships take time, you see. That is a tried and true.
Honest friends stay with you; a friendship is true.
D: An honest friend
C: An honest friend
All: A friend unto the very end.
D: An honest friend
C: An honest friend
All: A friend unto the very end. A friend unto the very end. |
